ILLUSTRA MEDIA Presents The First Film in the New Series THE DESIGN OF LIFE
FLIGHT: The Genius of Birds
" evidence best explained by an intelligence that transcends the natural world."

FLIGHT: The Genius of Birds is the first film in Illustra Media's new series THE DESIGN OF LIFE. Each episode explores a different realm of the animal kingdom and the remarkable biological systems that make life on Earth possible. Photographed in North America, England, Peru, Greenland, and Antarctica, FLIGHT probes mysteries and mechanisms of a bird's anatomy, instinct, navigation, and embryology to reveal stunning provisions essential for life in the skies.

You'll marvel at a hummingbird s unique skeletal, muscular, and metabolic systems all vital to its spectacular aerial acrobatics; the endurance and navigational abilities of an Arctic tern as it travels from pole to pole during the longest migration on the planet; the instinctive strategies that enable a flock of 300,000 European starlings to evade predators at break-neck speeds; the elaborate network of a million component parts that make a single feather an aerodynamic masterpiece, and much more.

The poet William Blake wrote that to see an eagle in the air is to observe a portion of genius. In FLIGHT the ingenuity of a bird's behavior and biology showcase unmistakable evidence for design, purpose, and plan. It is evidence best explained by an intelligence that transcends the natural world.

A Recommendation by Dr. Stephen C. Meyer:

What scientists and philosophers can only do with words, Illustra Media does with stunning video. Their documentaries exploring the scientific case for intelligent design are essential companions to the books and articles of the intelligent design research community.

The intelligent design trilogy (Unlocking the Mystery of Life, The Privileged Planet and Darwin’s Dilemma) has brought to life the scientific case for intelligent design in a way that no book alone could. Now with Flight: The Genius of Birds, Illustra has expanded its new series, “The Design of Life” — a series that reveals the engineering marvels at work in creatures we see everyday and yet may scarcely even notice.

Flight is a joy to watch! It affords us an intimate look at birds, and not just their outer beauty, but the elegantly engineered systems hidden beneath their feathers. It blends spectacular aerial and close-up photography with cutting-edge animation of the biomechanical structures and systems that make avian flight possible.

Have you ever been amazed at how hummingbirds feed or fly? See them closer than ever before here! Have you wondered how thousands of starlings can fly in tight formation as one unit? Flight explains this! Have you ever wondered: how does the feather help a bird fly better than any humanly-engineered aircraft? Flight will show you first hand. I highly recommend this film. It’s safe to say that you will never look at anything Illustra brings into focus—whether fossils, planets, cells, butterflies, or birds—the same way again!

"Wow! As I watched Flight, God's interrogation of Job 'out of the storm' flashed like lightening through my mind, 'Does the hawk take flight by your wisdom and spread his wings towards the south? Does the eagle soar at your command and build his nest on high?' Honestly, I did not think Illustra Media could produce a rival to their astonishing films Privileged Planet and Metamorphosis, but with Flight they most certainly have!"
(Hank Hanegraaff, President of CRI)

"They have done a spectacular job on making this movie. I don't know why anyone would pass up an opportunity to view this. Beg, borrow, or steal a copy of this film for your family. EVERYONE needs to see this. This goes WAY beyond the splendor of birds!"
(E. M. - MA)

"Just one word seems appropriate: WOW! Apart from the cinematography – which was extraordinary – I was most impressed by the lineup of biologists/researchers and the way the story of flight was told. I must say that I never questioned natural selection until I was presented with the million individual components of just a single feather and tried to wrap my head around how EACH of those components could have possibly evolved its form/function without some kind of intelligent design. And, if required to build a 747, then what about the infinitely more complex bird? What is truly masterful… Is that as the documentary comes to an end, it “quietly compels” the viewer to wonder and to ask of him/herself the most important question of all: So, who/what is the intelligent designer? The bird itself, or . . .? A perfect place for closing credits! Absolutely fantastic! I’m sending the DVD to my parents for circulation in my family."
(C.C. - LA)

"Tonight my husband, my brother and I sat down to watch the copy of Flight we received today. At the end of the film, sitting in our den, the three of us applauded. Magnificent, elegant, way cool! My brother Tim, who has become convinced of Design declared, 'BARUKH ATA ADENOI ELOHEINU, SHE KAKHALO B'OLAMO' (Bless our Lord God, who has such things in His world!)"
(J. R. - WA)

"What an incredible film! The grandeur and design of God has never been so clearly evident as in a bird's feather. My wife and I were astounded by the intricate mechanisms and intricate details that enable a bird to fly . . . and we were equally impressed with your film Flight. We can't wait to share it with the rest of our family."
(R. O. - Seattle, WA)

"This is an awesome production: Features of the skeletal system, feathers, muscular systems, unique capabilities of hummingbirds, coordinated flight of starlings, migration of arctic turns, etc. DEMAND INTELLIGENT DESIGN BY AN ALL-POWERFUL CREATOR!"
(Tom Henderson, Creation Books, Houston, TX)

"The producers of Flight should be applauded for their ability to make a film that informs, entertains and amazes. The photography was spectacular. The information was mind boggling. Outstanding work!"
(R. A. - AZ)
